God

We were driving in the car yesterday afternoon and out of the blue my 5 year old decides to start asking questions. She said just as seriously as can be, "Mommy, how can God make people if he doesn't have a wand?" I was so taken aback that I was trying to hold back the giggles when I answered her and said that God doesn't need a wand, if he wants something, he just says it and it happens.
Of course, my three year old has to jump in and she says to me, "Mommy, I want to go up in the sky and see God". Before I had a chance to answer my oldest says to her, "Nope, you gotta be dead to do that!"

Oh the joys of naive little minds!!!

Funeral Experience

Sadly, my Great Uncle passed away this last week. So, we had to attend a viewing and funeral this afternoon. We decided that it would be a good idea to leave the girls in the van to watch a DVD with our 17 year old niece instead of trying to keep them calm at the funeral. Everything seemed to go fine until about ten minutes before the end of the service. Both girls decided they needed to use the restroom. So, I took them inside and let them use the restroom and then I took them into the service because it was almost over. While we were waiting for the preacher to finish his prayer, my two year old looks up at me and says "Mom, where's the dead guy, I wanna show him my new boots". I was astonished to say the least! I wondered how she knew there was someone dead there. Well, it ended up that my niece decided that it was wise to tell the girls that there was a dead guy inside the building where we were.
Never againg will we be letting her give accurate information to our children!

A day at the doctor's office

Well, today we had the girls' three and five year checkups. Boy was it interesting! First of all, my girls are the only ones in the state that love to get their shots. They talked about it the whole way to the office. Then, they were so excited to get back into the examining room, they were actually driving me crazy! When we got back there, they got weighed and measured and answered all of the normal questions. Soon, the doctor came into the room and did the exam. He checked their ears, nose, throats, and eyes. Everything looked good. It was finally time for those shots!!! We waited about 15 minutes for the nurse to come into the room and when she finally did, Michaela wanted to go first. She was only getting one shot today and when the nurse gave it to her, she didn't even flinch and she watched it the entire time! I was really proud of her!! Then it was Alaina's turn. Oh No, was my first thought!! The nurse wanted me to help hold her and she got a shot in both arms. Never so much as a wimper! She took it like a trooper! Actually, Michaela was jealous that she was only getting one shot and not two! Weird kids! Oh well, at least I wasn't one of those mothers who was embarassed b/c my kids were screaming like someone was trying to kill them!

Cows are dee-licious!!

So, today was the day that we took our cows into the butcher and we were sitting outside waiting for my hubby to get back to the house with the cattle trailer. It is really cold and everything is snow covered, but Alaina did not want to go inside until her daddy got there.
Of course, when he got there, I had to help load up the cows and then Marvin was going to get on his way. Alaina asked me where the cows were going so I told her that they were going to the butcher so that we could put them in freezer for dinner.

She looked at me as serious as she could and she said "Mommy, daddy's cows are dee-licious" and she licked her lips!! Too cute!!!
